A new Green Snapshot, developed by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), is a brief synopsis of green statistics that reflect the positive impact of the industry's widespread efforts on behalf of the environment. The Green Snapshot is a half-page card, printed on FSC-certified cardstock with soy-based ink, designed to create greater awareness of the industry's extensive contributions to a cleaner environment and is part of AAIA's initiative, "Driving Toward a Cleaner Environment: The Automotive Aftermarket's Green Story."
The snapshot lists many items recycled by automotive aftermarket companies, and the raw materials and energy saved by these efforts. Automotive aftermarket companies recycle used engine oil and oil filters, tires, batteries, parts cleaning solvents, scrap metal, wood pallets, cardboard and paper, plastics and a/c refrigerant. It also highlights the yearly raw materials saved by the manufacture, distribution and use of remanufactured automotive parts, and the positive impact that regular maintenance has on the environment.

Website released aimed at getting used clothing out of landfills, into recycling stream
For the first time ever clothing brands, retailers, consumers, municipalities, charitable organizations, academics and recyclers are joining forces to promote the recycling of clothing and textiles. The Council for Textile Recycling (CTR) recently released its new website aimed at educating the public on the importance of recycling all clothing and textiles, not just those that are “gently worn.”
The Council’s news website: http://www.weardonaterecycle.org mirrors the organization’s slogan – Wear. Donate. Recycle.
“Our goal is to have zero post-consumer textile waste going into landfills by 2037,” says Eric Stubin, CTR Chairman of the Board. “In the United States the average person discards 70 pounds of their old clothing, shoes and household textiles in their local landfill each year. We’re educating people that clothing and textiles are among the most recyclable items in their home.”
