UPS Earns Top Score Among U.S. Firms on Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index

Recognized as World-Class Sustainability Leader In the S&P's Industrials Sector

For the second consecutive year, UPS has received the highest score in the 2012 Carbon Disclosure Project's "Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index" of S&P companies, receiving a 99 out of 100.

UPS is one of only two U.S. companies to achieve the high score, reflecting the company's commitment to transparency and leadership with regards to carbon reporting and performance in mitigating environmental impact. UPS is the only company from the Standard & Poor's 500 (S&P) Industrials sector to receive the highest score. Only four companies in the world received scores of 99 or higher.

Colony Square Hosts Eco-Event Series for World Green Building Week

Property aims to raise awareness of and highlight sustainable practices at work, home and in the community

Colony Square Midtown will host a weeklong series of eco-inspired events during World Green Building Week (WGBW), September 17th- 21st. Each event has been designed to spotlight the green initiatives of both Tishman Speyer, the property management company that runs the multi-use complex, and the building’s retail and office tenants. At the same time, the WGBW events will educate the community about small, sustainable practices that make a big difference.

The week’s events will include a community farmer’s market, an after-work cocktail party and an “Eco-lounge” experience. Programs will be sponsored by Colony Square, building tenants, and external vendors, all of whom are working to help decrease the carbon footprint.

Georgia Natural Gas® (GNG), Georgia's leading natural gas provider, will award a total of $50,000 in grants to Georgia-based nonprofits on November 15, 2012. Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations in the communities served by GNG are invited to apply for a grant now through the September 30, 2012 application deadline.

Georgia Natural Gas is proud to recognize our state's outstanding community organizations. TrueBlue Community Awards acknowledge the effort and dedication of community organizations working hard to bring about positive, lasting change through programs in four key focus areas.

The Focus Areas:

  • Children and Education – Initiatives that improve the educational, mental, social, cultural, health and wellness of children.
  • Seniors – Initiatives or projects that provide direct services for seniors such as meals, home repair, social and recreational activities, and independent living assistance.
  • Energy Assistance - Projects that facilitate and offer access to energy assistance, home weatherization activities, and energy-saving repairs for vulnerable individuals and families – especially seniors and the disabled.
  • Environment/Sustainability – Projects that promote the conservation of natural resources in Georgia through direct activities and education – especially within the residential sector and neglected communities.

26 Cobb Schools Receive Clean Air School Designation From the Clean Air Campaign
