T. Clay Wood Elementary School in Nokesville, VA has earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver Certification with the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).  Opening in 2011, the 104,000-square-foot school shares a site with the county's 11^thhigh school—Patriot High School.

Prince William County Public Schools (PWCPS) partnered with architects and engineers at Moseley Architects to tailor the two-story prototypical design originally created for Triangle Elementary School.  Intended to educate 850 students, the world class facility features state-of-the-art classrooms to engage students and inspire creativity and critical thinking. In an effort to provide a safe, positive, and responsible learning environment, PWCPS emphasized the importance of LEED Silver certification early in the design process. 

Attacks on environmental safeguards and energy issues pose top threats to South's air, water, communities, and special places

The Southern Environmental Law Center(SELC), the largest environmental advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the Southeast, today released its fifth annual list of the top 10 places in the South that face immediate, potentially irreparable, threats in 2013.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) named Dr. Matthew Trowbridge, Assistant Professor, University of Virginia School of Medicine, as its 2013-2014 Mark Ginsberg Sustainability Fellow. Along with a generous grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the fellowship will support Dr. Trowbridge’s work to help develop health metrics for green building, among other key research initiatives.
