The Reigning Region Recognizes Elite Businesses to Foster Innovation
The Cleantech Open Southeast Region announced the selection of six businesses that will compete in the southeast regional semifinals of the 2015 US Accelerator program. The region selected a group of superior cleantech entrepreneurs from Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Semifinalist teams will receive a number of in-kind benefits including extensive training, mentoring, infrastructure, networking and funding opportunities to help them grow into world-class cleantech companies.
The regional semifinalists have a specialized focus on innovation across one of the following categories: agriculture, water and waste, energy distribution and storage, energy efficiency, transportation and information technology and communications.
“This year marks an important year for the region,” said Jennifer Rohleder, executive director of the Cleantech Open Southeast. “We are coming off the momentum of fostering and mentoring last year’s National Grand Prize winner and we hope to continue to make the southeast a leader where energy and sustainable innovators can thrive. Our sponsors and support communities have played a critical role in nurturing the program and our teams.”
Regional finalists will be decided at the Southeast Regional Innovation Summit, which will be held October 7-8, 2015 at the GTRI Conference Center in Atlanta. Regional finalists will be awarded with cash and in-kind services worth up to $20,000. These finalists will then join finalists from the other seven regions across the United States to compete for the national title at the Cleantech Open’s Global Investor Forum in California.
